May 28th, Beileilieke, the director of Far East Customs Commission said on the news conference that the timber products exported to the Russian exports are mainly timber logs.

    According to the statistics data from Far Eastern Customs Bureau, 2006, the exported timber is 17 million cubic meters with a total value of 1.4 billion U.S. dollars. Of which, 96% of them are unprocessed timber; timber logs have a sustained growth in the percentage of exported timbers.

Beileilieke pointed out that Logs Exportation is the most high profit and most easily crime economy field in the Russian Far East region.

According to the investigation of Far Eastern Customs, in the field of law and crime have become increasingly frequent. On year 2006, there brought out 36 criminal cases, and the beginning of this year have already 20-crime cases, involved trespass timber of 15,000 cubic meters with a total value of 31 million rubles. According to customs statistics, the main form of the illegal use of false documents based enterprises, agreements, permits, record sales contracts, invoices, and the establishment of a "shadow company" for the transaction.

Far Eastern Customs had paid more attention to the Binghai Frontier Territory, because the timber of this region occupied a major share. More than half of timber exporters had a registered in the Binghai Frontier Territory customs, and the timbers accounted for 65% of the total. Moreover, more than 70% of valuable timber exports through the Binghai custom.
